Hi readers,
So as some of you know, I’m currently an Open University student. When I began studying from home, I struggled a little to adjust. Here are some tips and opinions I’ve come up with that helped me study.
Chose a designated space- A space free from distractions, and gets you in the mindset of studying. I find having everything I need in that space helpful.
Create a schedule- I like to know how long I need to spend studying. A routine allows me to use my time wisely.
Take regular breaks- Give your brain time to rest.
Remove distractions- I try to go somewhere quiet where disturbance is low (easier said than done)
Join groups- I learnt so much by joining WhatsApp and Facebook groups of people, who are studying the same as me.
Believe in yourself and work hard- Whether it’s online or in a school. Have the confidence in yourself. Try the hardest you can and be proud.
Have fun- I know how stressful studying can be, but I try to enjoy it as much as I can.
How do you guys like to study from home?
Thank you for reading.
Take care Lauren x

The point about joining groups is very interesting. I recently heard about “accountability buddys”, something I always tend to run away from but after years of boosting ultra independance I am slowly realising that the ultimate goal is attaining an “Interdependance” spirit. Thats when we can accomplish our greatest things. (The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” Stephen R. Covey (pg 49))

Fortunately, my studying days are long behind me. But your tips will be useful to so many in lockdown.
Many thanks for following my blog.
Best wishes, Pete.

I’d add to the list Prayer –
I’ve set myself up in the loft where I can get sunshine (especially during winter) so I want to soak up the rays when I can for that vitamin D. And then it’s quiet, because my husband is working in our room, and both teenagers are in their rooms – we’re all working at home, during COVID, so there are chances for distractions, but when they happen, they are good breaks. Like running a load of laundry and then I’m back to my quiet time with God and studying the Bible.
